A Taste of the Fleurieu: Celebrating the MICHELIN Guideās Arrival in South Australia
Tonight the MICHELIN Guide is arriving in South Australia, making our state the first Australian destination to be included in the internationally recognised restaurant Guide.
It is an exciting moment for South Australian food and wine, but the story reaches far beyond the restaurant table. It belongs to the growers, makers, producers, winemakers, chefs and small regional businesses whose work gives each part of South Australia its own unmistakable sense of place.
Here on the Fleurieu Peninsula, food is closely connected to the landscape. Vineyards meet the coast, farm gates sit alongside cellar doors, and many of the things enjoyed around the table begin only a short distance away.
A Fleurieu welcome at Merilli1885
To celebrate this milestone, Merilli1885 has partnered with Fiona from Fleurieu Hampers to offer guests a special Taste of the Fleurieu.
Guests who book a selected direct stay of two nights or more between 14 October 2026 and 30 January 2027 will receive a complimentary Fleurieu Hamper, thoughtfully filled with products from local makers and producers.
It is our way of welcoming guests to the region while introducing them to some of the people and flavours that make the Fleurieu so memorable.
Limited hampers are available and the offer is subject to availability. Use booking code FLEURIEU when booking directly through merilli.com.au.
More than somewhere to stay
Merilli1885 is an exclusive-use, adults-only luxury farmstay set on a private 90-acre working Angus farm at Currency Creek.
The heritage cottage accommodates up to four adults across two king suites, each with its own bathroom. Only one booking is accepted at a time, so the cottage and its surroundings remain entirely yours.
Guests can wake slowly, enjoy generous local breakfast provisions, wander beneath ancient gums, watch the horses grazing and return to the verandah as the afternoon light moves across the farm.
For those wishing to explore, Merilli1885 is around 10 minutes from Goolwa and Port Elliot, seven minutes from Middleton, 30 minutes from McLaren Vale and 35 minutes from Langhorne Creek. The Coorong, Kangaroo Island ferry and some of the Fleurieu Peninsulaās most memorable dining, wine and coastal experiences are also within easy reach.
Stay longer and taste more
The arrival of the MICHELIN Guide gives visitors another reason to discover South Australia through its food. On the Fleurieu, that experience is not limited to a single lunch or dinner. It can include a cellar-door tasting, produce gathered along the way, a quiet breakfast overlooking the farm and a hamper shared on the verandah.
Food may inspire the journey, but it is the landscape, local stories and time to slow down that make a regional stay memorable.
Book a selected stay of two nights or more directly with Merilli1885 between 14 October 2026 and 30 January 2027 and use code FLEURIEU to receive your complimentary Fleurieu Hamper.
