The Fleurieu Food Bowl: One Beautiful Base, So Much to Savour
The restaurants may be making international headlines, but the Fleurieu Peninsula’s food story has always been bigger than a single table.
There’s a delicious new reason to spend longer on the Fleurieu Peninsula. The inaugural MICHELIN Guide South Australia 2027 has recognised eight restaurants across our region, including two awarded One MICHELIN Star.
It’s a wonderful acknowledgement of the chefs and hospitality teams involved. And it provides a fresh invitation to discover the vineyards, farms, coastal kitchens and local producers that make the Fleurieu such a rewarding place to explore.
More than a reservation.
The Fleurieu Food Bowl isn’t a single destination. It’s a landscape of food experiences: McLaren Vale’s acclaimed restaurants and cellar doors, the wines of Langhorne Creek, produce from local farms, and the coastal towns of Goolwa, Middleton and Port Elliot.
A memorable lunch might inspire the journey. But there’s pleasure in leaving room for the unplanned: a winery recommended by a local, a coffee before a beach walk or a conversation with the person who grew what you’re tasting.
One country base, many directions.
At Merilli1885, our exclusive-use heritage cottage sits on a private 90-acre working Angus farm at Currency Creek, approximately 30 minutes from McLaren Vale and 35 minutes from Langhorne Creek. The southern Fleurieu’s beaches, cafés and historic towns are close by too.
Rather than packing and unpacking between destinations, guests can explore a different part of the region each day and return to the privacy of the cottage in the evening. Just one booking at a time means the entire stay belongs to you.
The MICHELIN Guide has given the Fleurieu a welcome international spotlight. We hope visitors discover not just the restaurants, but the landscape and the people that make their menus possible.
