Girls’ Weekend at Merilli1885
You need a weekend where nobody needs you for anything.
Not your kids, not your partner, not your job, not your inbox. Just you and the women who actually get it, the ones who’ve known you long enough to skip the small talk and go straight to the good stuff.
Merilli1885 gives you the space to do exactly that.
The Setup
Two king suites in a restored 1885 stone cottage. Complete privacy on 90 acres. Seven minutes from Middleton Beach, thirty minutes from McLaren Vale wineries, and a world away from whoever’s been demanding your attention all week.
The cottage is yours exclusively. No other guests, no shared spaces, no polite hallway conversations with strangers. Just you, your people, and a weekend with nothing on the agenda unless you put it there.
What Actually Happens
Honestly? A lot of sitting around in robes drinking wine by the fire. That’s not us underselling it, that’s what most groups actually do, and they’re very happy about it.
Some weekends look like this: sleep in, make a big breakfast, drive to McLaren Vale, hit three wineries, come back with cheese and more wine, light the fire, talk until midnight, repeat.
Other weekends look like this: never leave the property, order a private chef to cook you a long lunch, book massages, sit in the bath with a book, watch the sun set over the paddocks from the porch.
Both are correct. The cattle and horses approve of either approach.
If You Do Want to Leave
The Fleurieu’s got you covered. Middleton Beach is seven minutes if you want to walk off breakfast. Port Elliot’s ten minutes for coffee and retail therapy. McLaren Vale’s thirty minutes for the kind of wine tasting that turns into a three-hour lunch you didn’t plan.
Goolwa’s got markets on weekends. Victor Harbor’s got the causeway and fish and chips. Currency Creek’s got… us, mainly, and some very good quiet.
You can fill every hour or you can fill none of them. The cottage doesn’t care, and neither should you.
What’s Actually Included
Premium linens that make you wonder why your sheets at home feel like sandpaper. Salus bathroom products that smell better than whatever you brought. Local provisions in the fridge so you can have breakfast without driving anywhere. Firewood from the property stacked and ready.
The Cheminée Philippe fire that will become the centre of all important conversations. Two bathrooms so nobody’s waiting. A kitchen good enough that people actually cook here instead of just ordering takeaway.
Everything you need to spend a weekend doing absolutely nothing productive, which is the whole point.
The Bit Nobody Talks About
Girls’ weekends matter. Not in a hashtag-blessed kind of way, but in the “you needed to remember who you are outside of being useful to everyone else” kind of way.
You need the women who knew you before you had all these responsibilities. You need the laughs that make your face hurt. You need the conversations that go deep at 11pm when the wine’s half gone and everyone’s too comfortable to pretend anymore.
You need to wake up without an alarm and realise you slept nine hours straight. You need to not be needed for forty-eight hours (or more!).
That’s what weekend’s and girls trips are for.
Book It
Stop talking about doing this and actually do it. Get the dates in the calendar before someone schedules something else over the top of it.
Your people deserve a weekend that’s actually about them. So do you.
